2017 marked a new adventure for me, owning my own home.
I’m not going to lie it’s a scary and daunting thought, paying a mortgage, running a home, making sure you have food in. Surviving! After all, I’m still young, still learning and still trying to do this “adulting” thing. Saying that, having my own home now means I can truly go to town on decorating. I’ll do my best to keep you all in the loop with any cool and cute bits I buy, I’m hoping to make it really homely and already picked up some awesome bits last year which you can see here.
One thing I’ve always wanted is a “Pinterest worthy office”. I think it’s every bloggers dream to have a beautiful space to work in and to be creative in. It’s also a great space to set up your flat lays and take photos. I honestly cannot wait to have it finished! It will be nice not to completely take over the dining room.
Colour scheme
This is such an important aspect for me. I love colours and getting accessories to match. My plan is to pretty much do the whole office in a neutral colour like an off-white. I’ve found a gorgeous colour from Farrow & Ball that I think I’m going to get called Pointing, then to offset this I’m going to get a really powerful navy from them too so I can have a “feature wall”. I’m hoping with these colours in mind I can get some really nice copper accessories!
Furniture
The second most exciting thing I will have to do is get some furniture! Eeek! I’ve found the perfect desk on Pinterest which is a really simple one. It’s white and really minimalistic. I don’t want the furniture to be too overpowering but want it to be a bit of a statement. If you see where I’m coming from 😉 Then I’m planning on getting a really simple chair too. I really want to make a point with the decor, so for me sticking with this style of furniture will help.
Decor
I plan to go to town most on this aspect. I absolutely love decor and discovering really cute home accessories to tie a room together. I’m thinking with my colour scheme to go with some rose gold and/or copper accessories as they’ll really stand out. I’ve found some really pretty bits on the Paperchase website and luckily enough there’s a store near where I live 🙂 I’ll most definitely will head over to TK Maxx and do a haul there too, I’ve seen some fake flowers and greenery that I must get for my flat lays there, so you can almost guarantee I’ll come back with a lot!
What would your design and style be like if you could have your dream office? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear and be even more inspired!
