So before we set off to the beautiful Berlin it was a certain someones birthday 🙂 to his dismay he’s another year older…
After gift giving and a superhero birthday cake with candles (no, you’re never too old haha), I was informed we would be heading somewhere as a surprise to get a Christmas tree! Me being me, I’m a total Christmas nut, I love Christmas. It truly is the best time of year, filled with so much love, happiness and fairy lights!
You can imagine my excitement when we arrived at a field full of tree’s that they chop down especially for you! I mean……a proper Christmas Tree farm! I was honestly like a child on Christmas Day that has just seen all their presents under the tree. So after being told and told the tree I loved was too big, we compromised, and got it anyway 🙂
Maybe I should have listened (although I will never admit this to his face), the tree was too big. But to be fair, nothing a bit of trimming didn’t solve haha! After plenty of chopping, and pruning it was perfect and fit into our little dining room just right.
Once we’d dropped it off at home we headed into Harrogate for a spot of birthday brunch 🙂 We headed to somewhere I’ve only been once or twice, that we should really head to more, Baltzersen’s. They are a Scandinavian style cafe situated in central Harrogate. Priding themselves on using only Yorkshire sourced ingredients prepared with Scandinavian inspiration, they truly deliver the taste of the Nordic’s in a very relaxed setting.
I had the Smoked bacon on light rye toast with a poached duck egg (and an extra one because they’re super yummy) and hollandaise sauce. Oh my days, it was divine! It set me up until dinner that’s for sure but it was so scrummy. I could go there for breakfast/brunch every day, and it’s really not badly priced for what you get. They also do a damn good coffee 😉 If you’re in Harrogate, get yourself there and experience everything they have to offer.
